Well... it's August.
August has always meant something to me. It's the month a few of my films came to life—The Final Interview, Sella Turcica, and, of course, August Underground. So I couldn't think of a better time to finally launch Burning Windmill.
Shelby built this website for me because I wanted a place where I could just be myself. Share my my art. Just me talking with you about movies, special effects, life, and whatever crazy idea brewing in my head.
Who knows where this will go? Maybe it'll turn into a podcast. Maybe I'll bring on some incredible artists and friends to talk shop. Maybe I'll share behind-the-scenes stories I've never told before. One thing I can promise is this—I'm making another movie.
This one has been brewing for a while, and I can honestly say it's one of the most personal projects I've ever worked on. I can't wait to share more when the time is right.
This year is a big one for me. I turned 50, will be celebrating 20 years of marriage, and I've somehow been making movies for 25 years. That's pretty wild when I stop and think about it.
Has it always been easy? Not even close. But I've been lucky enough to spend my life doing what I love—making movies, working in television, creating special effects makeup, building monsters, and covering everything in fake blood.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
